Vehicle Description 1956 Ford Business Sedan Here is a very rare car with fewer produced than the famous Crown Victoria.
All thru the mid 1900:
s, the big automakers build Business Man's coupes and sedans for the sales person to drive around and transport their wares in the rear behind the front seat when they wanted to have them locked in instead of on an open pickup bed.
We presume that Elisabeth Hieber was such a sales woman when she entered the Ford dealership of Homer Heller in Escondido California and plunked down $1698 for this Mainline.
She traded her 1941 Ford Business coupe that had served her well for a long time.
The dealer gave her all of $50 for that car! She also paid a whopping $19.
35 to have a little extra flair with a darker blue on the roof.
Not wanting to freeze on her trips, she opted for a heater for $71.
43, (more than she got for the 1941 car) and wanting to be safe, another $15.
26 for turn signals.
We know this because of the original sales receipt that goes with this car and also the original owners manual.
She drove it for some years in CA and then the car ended up in Nebraska to finally come back to CA and now it can be yours! It is fun to drive with its original 6 cylinder and 3 speed on the tree, you can cruise into town on Sundays for ice cream and wave to people who love this old car, it has a lot of charm! It is a nice driver, not a show car even if it looks very handsome.
Just a fun car to put around in and it invites to many nice discussions with classic car friends because of its rarity and lack of back seat.
If you want a back seat, you can easily install one, or I can help you do it at cost! Hagerty Price Guide as of October 2023:
Concours condition $34900 Excellent condition $25400 Good condition $19300 Fair condition $9500 Feel free to ask any questions or request more pictures, or even send someone to inspect the car if you live far away, I am here to help and have nothing to hide on this car.
Clear title on hand.
