There are more than a few of you out there who had one as a first car in the late 1980s or who had good times in a similar Fiero.
It turns out that GM eventually got the Fiero right, with more power, better suspension, improved brakes, and a great look.
Of course, 1988 was the end of the line for the General's 2-seat mid-engined sports car, but some wise soul was smart enough to tuck this one away for the future and here it is.
Showing just over 17,000 original miles, it's a highly original and untouched car.
The handsome Medium Red Metallic paint was the right choice for a car to preserve, an elegant and sporting color that gives the Fiero an upscale appeal.
The paint and bodywork are in excellent condition and thanks to the Fiero's composite panels, rust is a non-issue.
By 1988, they'd figured out the quality control issues, too, so this one feels substantial, the doors close with a solid THUNK, and body gaps are very good throughout.
If you saw one sitting on the showroom floor in 1988, this is pretty much what it would have looked like.
The gray leather interior is a great choice and a nice step up from the standard cloth buckets.
Step down into the GT's low-slung cockpit and you'll find there's plenty of room even for taller drivers and the adjustable seats are remarkably comfortable for being 35 years old.
This car is loaded with options and features, including a tilt steering column, power windows, locks, and mirrors, cruise control, A/C, and a removable sunroof with shade, which probably made this one of the more expensive Fieros you could buy in 1988.
Everything is in excellent condition with minimal wear on the seats and carpets that have been protected by matching carpeted mats.
Big, round gauges are easy to read at a glance, and the design of the instrument panel puts secondary controls like headlights at your fingertips.
The center stack houses a pair of auxiliary gauges up top, along with the HVAC controls and a decent-sounding Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo with graphic equalizer (remember those?).
A few thoughtful storage cubbies combine with both front and rear trunks to give you reasonable, if not amazing, storage space.
It's a sports car, not a station wagon, after all.

8-liter V6 provides the kind of punchy torque that makes the Fiero feel quick around town.
The car is well balanced, not a drag racer, and the V6 is ideally suited to that mission.
It's bulletproof reliable, easy to service, and makes an appealing growl with you lean on the throttle a bit.
The engine bay is nicely maintained with original hardware and equipment throughout?no modifications.
On top there's that bright red intake manifold to dress things up a bit, but the rest should be familiar to anyone who owned a mid-sized GM product in the 1980s.
The only automatic transmission available was a 3-speed, but with the V6's torque and 2.
84 gears in the final drive, it's still a relaxed highway cruiser that doesn't mind settling in for a road trip.
And when the road starts to twist, the Fiero is right there with you, offering a fully independent suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, and wonderfully communicative unboosted steering that is better than anything GM has offered in the past 3 decades.
The undercarriage shows a few signs of the passage of time, but no rot or structural issues, no evidence of accidents, and it's so original even the exhaust system is OEM.
And if you really need perfection, you could spend a Saturday afternoon cleaning things up to make it look almost new?it's just dirty, not rusty.
Factory alloy wheels are unmarked and carry what appear to be the original staggered Goodyear Eagle radials, 205/60/15s in front and 215/60/15 in back.
Unless you're spending six figures for an exotic, nobody's ever going to build a car like the Fiero, and certainly not General Motors.
It evolved from a low-cost commuter car to a competent and entertaining true sports car in this 1988 GT.
Today it's a wonderfully analog way to have fun behind the wheel and its performance envelope is quite accessible without putting everyone else in danger.
