Part of Packard's multi-faceted response to the Great Depression was the introduction for 1937's Fifteenth Series of the company's first six-cylinder model since 1926.
Its engine was based upon the One Twenty's little eight, overbored but with two fewer cylinders.
It offered good road speed and surprising fuel economy with Packard's typical outstanding build quality and engineering, at a price akin to a Buick.
The model was a sales success and was soon rechristened the One Ten.
It remained in production until World War II, and after the war, versions of its engine continued to power entry-level Packards until the first redesigned postwar models rolled out during 1948.
The Convertible Coupe offered here is identified by its original firewall data plate as having been sold by the Consolidated Motor Company, Ltd.
, of Vancouver, British Columbia, on May 31, 1940.
According to the current owner, the original owner was Edward Leon Czapiewski of nearby Burnaby.
Mr.
Czapiewski's family sold the Packard to Dwight Findley of Richardson, Texas, who undertook some engine work, including new rings, wrist pins, and rod bearings (Invoices on file), and would enjoy the car with his wife on weekend drives.
After her passing, the car was purchased by the current owner, believed to be only the third since new, in 2013.
Overall the car has an extremely charming appearance, with older paint showing some minor scratches and chips, and a very tidy interior with solid upholstery, original trim hardware, and a Packard Standard heater, all of which the owner believes to be original.
The top is older and in good condition, as is the top boot, while the engine compartment and undercarriage show regular use and patina, however both being extremely clean.
Over $19,600 of receipt-documented work has been performed in the present ownership by the noted marque specialists, Parker's Packards of Massachusetts.
This is a lovely Packard for enthusiastic driving in warm (or cold climates) and is ready for immediate use! It starts easily hot or cold, brakes and steers very nicely and is just a joy to drive.
Get in and go!.
