This trombone is a project horn that I did with a fantastic local brass repair tech in DC, Ken McGee. I had an original Bach Mt. Vernon valve section and neckpipe laying around, as well as a Conn 88H yellow bell and reversed tuning slide, and a custom slide from Virtuosity Instruments in Boston that is a Bach 42 inner slide made narrower to accommodate a Conn 88H outer slide with gold brass sleeves. I know it's quite the bastardization, but it was a fun project to see what could result in making the most of combining a few great parts into one horn. The result is a very resonant and well-playing trombone unlike anything else available. The best way I can describe it is that it's a perfect specialty chamber horn, if you're looking for that colorful Conn 88H feel, but with a touch of large bore Bach that allows it to have a little of that slightly more girthy character that would otherwise be lacking.Please let me know if you have any questions!
