Gibson Mastertone Banjo RB-250 - Opportunity for sale in Longview, TX
For sale! 1980 Gibson Mastertone RB-250 This banjo is all original with the exception of a new Remo head, Purcell 5/8" bridge and of course the strings. Mahogany neck and resonator, ebony fretboard with MOP 'leaves and bows' inlay pattern, maple rim, tube and plate flange, GBB (Gibson Bell Bronze) marked 20-hole flathead tone ring, dual co-rods, notched tension hoop, round hooks, Gibson marked clamshell-style tailpiece, dual leg armrest (also engraved Gibson), geared 5th peg, Schaller offset planetary tuners with Gibson inscription. The neck has the proper amount of relief with the truss rod set to neutral position. No buzzing or other play-ability issues. Minimal fret wear showing. The coordinator rods are also set at a neutral position. Fifth string capo installed spikes at 7 and 9. There's some obvious play wear on both the neck and resonator along with a few chips/dings on the tip of the peghead (see pics) This is definitely a player's instrument, not a closet queen, museum or show piece. The tone is great with the GBB ring! I see no reason to make any changes or upgrades to this banjo.
