This instrument is in good condition for its age and plays very well. The valves move very well and the slides all move of course. These older King horns are generally set up to be comfortable for players with very large hands, so this horn has had an additional ring added to the pinky ring so that players with smaller hands can hold the horn more comfortably.As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are some small dings and pings as well as areas of light, isolated scratching, pitting, and etching throughout the horn. The bell flare has slightly more significant scratching, etching, and pitting. The bell has been converted to screw bell using a Yamaha ring. The bell engraving reads: KING/ MADE BY/ THE H.N.WHITE CO./ CLEVELAND/ OHIO."The minor flaws are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely "raw brass" patina over time. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn case, and a mouthpiece for play-testing purposes. How the horn plays: The horn is open, responsive and lively, with a clear, bright sound. The F and Bb side timbre and intonation match well. All registers of the horn speak well and play fluidly yet accurately across the range.All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N.
