Excellent Surly Pugsley w/ Tubeless Fatties for sale in Ephrata, PA
This bike has been a blast! Wherever I ride, people stop and stare. Everyone yells, "Cool bike!" and one guy even yelled "WTF is that?!" Everyone thinks it has a motor, but I tell them that the rider is the only motor. Its a Surly Pugs with all its original documentation and a bunch of upgrades. It is pro mechanic owned and super-tuned. The best upgrade is the green Vee 120 tpi tubeless tires. They are terrific for hardpack, asphalt, sand and of course, packed snow! At first I rode these with the Surly ultralight inner tubes and I thought they rode pretty good. But then I upgraded to tubeless with Stan's and WHAT a difference! I was pushing one-to-two cogs higher for the same effort, and it just rolled so much smoother over everything. After that, I switched all my bikes to tubeless. The difference was unbelievable! The tires alone are $90 each, and I'm including two spares. I'm also including two new mud tires if you need them. The next major upgrade is the E-Thirteen triple crank ($350). It has a 30mm alloy spindle and forged crankarms that make it super stiff and it transforms the way that the bike pedals. I went from the lame Truvative stock double crankset to this top of the line triple crank because I was pulling a Burley cargo trailer and needed the granny ring to pull those really big climbs. But the real bonus is how it pedals. You can actually feel your pedalstroke get rounder and smoother because of the increased stiffness. That equals more power to the ground. The Pugs, compared to other box stock Fatties, goes like a cat with its tail on fire. It wants you to put the hammer down. Ive used it as a commuter too, so its racked out with a quick release Topeak MTX trunk bag/rack and fenders. One of my coolest shop finds is Mudflap Girl (from Electra Streamliner) and she rides on the back to keep you company. The bike also comes with an Axiom quick release shopping basket which was super handy. It only takes a few seconds to switch between bag or basket, or nothing at all. When I rode with a backpack, I could throw it into the shopping basket until I got where I was going, then you can pop it off and take it shopping. Ive got the original inner tubes and one spare in the trunk bag in case you ever flat so big that the Stan's doesnt seal it and you cant fix it with a plug. Ive also got a flat bar and bar ends in case you dont like the swept-back mustache bar position. Thats all I can think of.
