("Ready to ride" only applies if you pick it up in person).This is a very high quality, lightweight bike with alloy frame, many alloy parts, sealed bearing parts, etc. The quality of this bike is comparable to a good lightweight adult bike, so the wear and tear of a child riding it is comparatively minimal. Expect this bike to last many generations of kids riding it (either as hand-me-downs or through resale to other families). Don't discount the value to the child: a good quality, lightweight bike is more likely to inspire a kid to love cycling. Bike is about three years old, but has been ridden for only about one year, mostly in 2020, accumulating maybe 200 miles total. It has been very well maintained.I've returned the bike to its "as-new" condition (mechanically better than new!).I put the original 102mm crank back on - it has no more than 3 miles on it. (it was too short/small for our boy in 2020)I added a quick-link to chain to facilitate maintenance.I put on new pedals (it was easier to keep the old pedals on his longer cranks, which I put on his new larger Frog 62 bike).If you pick it up in person, then mechanically it is better than new: fully assembled, components professionally adjusted and lubricated. Except for the few scratches here and there (see pictures), it is perfect. If you wish, I will install the fenders for you, no extra charge.Note: when you buy this bike new online - if you can find one - the dealer sends it to you partly disassembled. In addition to assembly, ours also required some non-trivial adjustments. They seem to come from England with the wheel bearings far too tight! Brakes and shifting needed adjustment. All this has been done for you, if you buy this bike!Note: The crank from his new larger Frog 62 bike was also too small for him (smaller even than the crank he's been riding on the Frog 52!). So I have an extra 127mm Frog crank, brand new, that I'll include with this bike if you make your purchase at the *Buy It Now* price (see the extra 127mm crank in the picture showing the fenders and other hardware). The extra crank will give you a longer run of usefulness for the bike, depending on the size of your child. The original 102mm crank installed on the bike is suitable for 4-5 yr. olds (again: depends on kid's size). When they outgrow that, the 127mm crank can be installed (suitable for typical 6-7 yr. olds). These larger size cranks are no problem for this bike. My son was riding an even larger aftermarket 145mm crank on this Frog 52 bike, and is now riding that same crank on his new Frog 62. If you don't need the extra crank, make me an offer on the bike to not include the crank. Make your offer clearly, to NOT INCLUDE the extra crank. Note: While I have this listed for "local pickup only," I could work with you on meeting you within a reasonable distance of Charlottesville, VA. Also, if you live further away (e.g. Washington D.C.), I might have something to do there and could combine other travel with a bike delivery. Such opportunities will vary, so we need to be in touch. NOTE: if you want to secure the sale to YOU, even if I will bring you the bike, you have to make the purchase first through eBay, to guarantee that the bike will be available to you when I show it to you. I have made the experience of going to a "local pickup" for an eBay purchase, and after arriving there, the item was already sold to someone else, through no fault of the seller - because I had not made the purchase on eBay sight unseen before driving out. So, even if you are nearby, if you want it, you should purchase it through eBay before you come to pick it up.
