Registered Nurse (Employee Health)

Evaluates appropriate examination and testing required for employee applicants, employees changing job categories, Fitness for Duty, DEMPS volunteers, and drivers and patient transporters to name a few. Coordinates notification and scheduling of the exams per Handbook 5019 and other sources of guidance for EOH duties Performs administrative duties to keep the EOH database and spreadsheets current; orders all labs, Respiratory Therapy (PFT) consults and radiology tests per Occupational Health Guidebook 5019, EOH provider and EOH protocols. Completes EKGs for employee health Assists C&P when provider requests assistance Maintains the EOH Medical Health paper files (known as the blue folders) according to compliance with the Guidebook 5019, VA Privacy Directives, and HIPAA. Documents in appropriate Electronic Medical Record databases as well as the permanent EOH paper file. Assesses and triages employees with injuries and illnesses for appropriate disposition according to guidebook 5019 and facility MCM HR 05-14, VHA Directive 7701, Comprehensive Occupational Safety and Health Program, 5 CFR, facility specific policies to name a few. Administers the Employee Tobacco Cessation program and is responsible for updating the facility policy Medical Staff ProtoPerforms other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor. The incumbent must be poised and articulate in communicating effectively with people of varied educational levels and ethnic backgrounds. Willing to work cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments. Ensures that caring for the facility employees are a priority and demonstrates customer service principles in all aspects of work. Self-motivated in the pursuit of meeting professional work standards. Collaborates and shares information with medical center clinical staff regarding protentional improvement in patient care delivery. Demonstrates initiative in collaboration of other subject matter experts within the work group, facility level, and VISN programs. Performs additional duties as assigned. Pay:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Experience:
2-3 years generalized nursing experience, emergency room, or primary adult care clinics. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
