Systems Administrator

We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator for our Fortune 100 client in North Chicago.

Responsibilities:
Participating in and/or leading technical projects Providing escalation support for Linux/UNIX based servers including monitoring, troubleshooting and break/fix of issues with hardware, operating system, layered software products, system patching, and printing.
Providing technical expertise for evaluating outages, reviewing impact of supported systems, and troubleshooting incident resolution Providing escalation support in the management of storage volumes on Unix/Linux platforms as needed Occasional weekend work, including support for four quarterly maintenance outages a year Participating in the management of support contracts for hardware, operating system, layered products, and other software Creating and troubleshooting UNIX shell scripts used for automation Executing system change, incident and problem analyses per established procedures.
Resolves escalated technical problems following established tracking procedures.
Reviewing of server capacity change requests and technical approval for third party implementation Coordinating major Unix-related change activities during maintenance windows Researching and recommending security/bug fixes, patches or upgrades as required to maintain hardware/firmware, operating systems, and layered products Providing technical leadership for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Unix/Linux based operating systems in a world-wide enterprise environment primarily consisting of Redhat Linux Effectively identifying user and technical dependencies, risks, and engaging other technical domains to define broader solution sets Disaster recovery planning and technical oversight for third party resources as required Managing and enhancing system security improvements in accordance with industry best practices and company policy Conducting proactive capacity planning, performance monitoring, configuration tuning and technology refresh as required Ensuring audit compliance and consistency in the management of administrative policies and procedures relative to Unix/Linux based systems Establishing and maintaining system specific documentation and operational procedures within the domain
Qualifications:
Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, MIS, and Mathematics, Engineering, Business or area of functional responsibility preferred, or equivalent 5
years of industry work experience 7
years of technical experience with Unix/Linux based server operating systems administration in a medium to large complex server environment Strong technical leadership ability and troubleshooting skills to work with and provide technical direction to onshore/offshore support resources Expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting 2-4 years of experience working with virtualization technologies including VMWare Working knowledge of logical volume management concepts and SAN configuration RHCE certification or equivalent experience Experis is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE/AA).
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
