Position Summary

Summary: Responsible to support scientific investigations and raw material studies related to production processes for biopharmaceuticals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
The candidate will be responsible for supporting scientific investigations and raw material studies related to upstream unit operations of biologics manufacturing processes.
The candidate will work in a team of Scientists and Associates and support all activities to assure that experiments are planned and coordinated cross-functionally, as well as executed effectively.
Experiments will be conducted in small-scale bioreactors or shake flasks using DOE or other experimental principles.
The candidate in this role will support the execution of an effective raw material use testing and control plan.
Maintains lab supplies and equipment.
Develops and writes protocols for small-scale studies.
Produces and maintains accurate records.
Tabulates results and writes summary reports of process evaluation studies.
Assists in the analysis of samples generated from lab scale studies.
Utilizes JMP/MVA to analyze process performance and product quality data.
Presents findings at group and possibly at interdepartmental meetings.
Knowledge and Skills:
Operation of small-scale bioreactor systems.
Mammalian cell culture.
Understand cellular metabolism.
Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Understand cGMP and regulatory guidance such as ICH.
Education and
Experience:
Requires BS/BA in life sciences/engineering or related field; Biomedical engineering or Chemical Engineering is preferred. May consider another degree discipline with relevant experience; cGMP experience is desirable.
