Overview
We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for our Customer Solutions Group to focus on fulfilling our charter to derive rapid and innovative mechanical engineering solutions for our internal and external customers. While reporting to the Customer Solutions Engineering Manager, you'll have the opportunity to work with a talented technical team to achieve excellent results for our customers by providing creative and sustainable engineering solutions. Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Provide carefully formulated and statistically driven engineering recommendations to both our internal and external customers. Effectively communicate technical issues to all levels of management and technical/non-technical audiences. Provide guidance to our NPD teams in support of the mechanical designs for our new products. Provide effective and rapid product design support for our North American operations. Provide guidance and shared knowledge to our Product Marketing teams. Coordinate and lead problem resolution and product improvement teams. Use appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help promote team cohesion. Schedule and track CSE project milestones along with providing timely updates to management. On major programs: o Complete risk analyses, design calculations, FMEA's and design reviews, to verify that designs meet or exceed product specifications. o Develop an effective test plan, coordinating efforts to test the design, and utilizing statistical methods to verify performance. Coordinate the efforts of designers and drafters to document engineering initiatives while utilizing the ECM process.
Qualifications
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems from a customer based perspective. Ability to understand and utilize state-of-the-art enabling technologies in materials, design and manufacturing processes. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Solid organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of engineering software such as CAD, ANSYS, Minitab, DFSS, etc.
Maximum domestic/international travel requirement of 10%.
Preferred: Knowledge of agency approvals for MSA products.
Experience performing statistical tolerance analysis
Education and experience required: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, preferably from an ABET-accredited college or university
This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc:o Level one: No experience o Level two: 2 years of relevant experienceo Level three: 3 years of relevant experience
MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience.
Preferred: Experience working in a team oriented engineering environment
