Network Engineer

The Network Engineer is responsible for the overall design, implementation and maintenance of business systems related to renewable energy portfolio. Duties include integrating existing disparate technology platforms into corporate standard. Also required to work with 3rd parties in the development and turn up of new assets.
Responsibilities
Monitors communication status and data flow for all sites
Troubleshoots communications failures including firewall, and related network issues
Assist in the design and planning and review of Network and Communication systems
Support of PI data management system
Monitors overall systems performance and leads performance optimization activities
Makes suggestions and decisions on hardware, operating system and network configuration in support of new systems requirements
Analyzes security violations at the most complex technical levels and implements procedures to stop future events
General support for PC and network related issues
Stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and industry standards and communicates the benefits of their use to senior management.
Regularly attends security conferences to guarantee full compliance with industry standards
Qualifications
Education:
4-year degree in Computer Science or related field or relevant work experience
Skills:
Able to resolve complex problems without assistance or direction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent understanding of mainstream computer technologies.
Familiarity with firewalls and edge device configuration procedures.
Self-starter who can operate with little guidance both as a team member, team leader and individual contributor.
Excellent understanding of security technologies.
Proficient knowledge of server and desktop management tools.
Strong knowledge of network configuration and maintenance, Windows and Internet support technologies.
Knowledge of the following technologies: Windows operating systems, Fortinet, Cisco, SQL Server 2008/2012
Experience:
Requires at least 5
years of experience.
