Key Position Details
GEICO's Brooklyn Staff Counsel is seeking an attorney for our Hicksville office. The position requires the attorney to have the necessary experience to immediately assume a full caseload of moderate severity and complexity cases. Applicants must be licensed in New York. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, writing, analytical and computer skills. Applicants must have strong CHG timeliness, audit, and client survey and closure ratio results. Applicant must be able to travel to court, arbitrations, depositions and all other file related events.
Candidate requirements specified below:
License in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions.
Position requires a minimum of 3 years' experience in personal injury litigation or 5 years' litigation experience.
TRAVELS as required, including but not limited, to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences.
Must be able to use a keyboard and a mouse.
Must be able to multi-task.
Must be able to access and utilize multiple pieces of office equipment that may require simultaneous use.
Must be able to communicate in a professional manner in person, via telephone and/or email.
Essential Functions:
RESEARCHES laws and PREPARES legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
RENDERS opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
PREPARES and HANDLES pleadings, motions, and discovery, to include depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath based on jurisdiction.
DEFENDS by trial, arbitration, or mediation all matters assigned, as applicable.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am 5:30pm
