We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our central data team in Amsterdam. For this job we need someone who loves mining and crunching data, but equally important you need to be able to translate large amounts of high-velocity, diverse data-sources into actionable business insights. As our new team member you will play a key role in executing our global data strategy. The ideal candidate for this position is able to balance insight in data and ability to pragmatically get things done. Furthermore, the individual thrives at building relationships and being able to interact and create impact at all levels of the company. Responsibilities You will work on critical projects across the eCG portfolio e.g. data mining, analysis, complex data and business modeling projects. The position offers you an excellent opportunity to further build your data scientist and analytical toolbox and influence the global eBay Classifieds businesses. You will participate in a wide variety of technology, product and analytical projects - delivery in highest quality and on time, while securing commitment from our stakeholders will be key. You will work both with tech and analytics teams, translating business needs to Data Analytics, Business Insights and Tracking will also be part of your role. Preferred Qualifications Expert level SQL skills Solid data transformation and manipulation skills Solid analytical modeling skills Preferably solid Javascript, .Net, Python or Java development skills Familiarity with Hadoop, R, Hive, Spark and similar tools Familiarity with machine learning and statistical modeling Job Requirements Min. 2 years of experience from similar role as e.g. Data Scientist, BI consultant or BI developer Min. Master Degree in Computer/Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, business or similar Fluency in English Great communication skills and ability to concisely and to-the-point deliver recommendations & proposals Proactive, curious and self-motivated Ability to form relationships and interact with stakeholders at all levels Willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done As a person you are trustworthy, you set high standards, you are socially and intellectually adept Business Unit culture:
