Primary Role
Provide solutions oriented, proactive, high quality legal counsel and advice on a wide variety of legal risks and opportunities including:
regulatory, business development, corporate commercial matters, real estate, environmental, litigation, contracts, and other matters. Effectively manage outside counsel as necessary on such matters.
Key Accountabilities
Provide solutions oriented, proactive, high quality, legal advice and counsel on a wide variety of matters, with a particular focus on regulatory matters, business development and corporate and commercial matters, including rates and other regulatory filings and hearings, and business development deal structure, document drafting, due diligence, and negotiations. These duties extend to real estate transactions (purchase, sale, and easements), engineering projects and environmental matters, as well as negotiation of franchise agreements. Assist the Divisional General Counsel with corporate governance matters.
Direct, participate in and assist in judicial and administrative proceedings, with responsibility for specific items or entire proceeding as appropriate. Such matters include but are not limited to utility commission and department of environmental protection proceedings, general litigation, mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
Provide legislative/regulatory evaluations and advice, including the drafting of proposed legislation or changes thereto and providing explanation of the organization's position on such matters for legislators and governmental stakeholders.
Represent the organization in making presentations before internal and external committees, boards, commissions, and/or other governmental organizations.
Perform other projects as assigned by the Divisional General Counsel

Excellent written and oral communication, analytical and drafting skills. Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on initiative, knowledge sharing, teambuilding and decision-making. Strong business acumen and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively on a variety of teams. Excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and crisis situations. Ability to balance legal risks and business objectives, providing a range of solutions and relative risk related to each. Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information in a proper manner. Work effectively with all levels within the organization as well as key external stakeholders.
Expertise in one or more practice areas relevant to the business; i.e., public utility laws and regulations, corporate and commercial transactions such as mergers and acquisitions and other business development transactions, litigation, real estate transactions, environmental, and administrative law.
Experience / Education
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a licensed, practicing attorney with strong corporate and commercial experience desired (may have a combination of law firm and corporate experience).
Travel Requirements
Overnight and extended periods of travel may be necessary.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
