MED TECHNOLOGIST (Full-time)

The person serving in the position of Medical Technologist (MT) possesses the technical ability and problem solving skills to perform and report all tests upon orientation (automated and manual) in the clinical laboratory in an accurate, timely and cost efficient manner. The MT must be able to properly collect, handle, process, and store specimens. MT's operate instruments that are computer-integrated, networked and are computerized information systems. . The MT will be a department lead and must demonstrate leadership skills including inventory management, instrument maintenance, proficiency sample handling and follow up, updating and adherence to policies and other misc. responsibilities. The MT must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both oral and written with co-workers, regulatory agencies, customers and other healthcare staff. Populations served include neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Education and Training (required and preferred):
Must have completed an approved program in medical technology/clinical laboratory science or have equivalent knowledge as defined by federal/state regulations. MT's/CLS's have post-secondary education either in the form of baccalaureate degree in biological/physical sciences or baccalaureate level clinical laboratory education program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science, the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. Credentialing agencies may include National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, American Society of Clinical Pathologist, ABHES, or American Medical Technologists.
Experience (required and preferred):
One year of laboratory experience which may include part of a required internship program.
