Where the Chemistry Happens We are seeking a Packaging Technician to join our Performance Material (PM) team, located in Wyandotte, MI. The Wyandotte Engineering Plastics Compounding Technician position is responsible for personal and team safety, product quality, and execution of Packaging and Shipping responsibilities to meet production orders and shipments on their assigned shift. Responsibilities include:
Perform Packaging and Shipping department standard operating procedures as outlined. Effectively communicate with plant personnel on equipment status and readiness. Operate bagging, box filling, and bulk loading operations. Load and unload trailers. Verify receiving and loading documents. Operate the rework transfer system. Perform general warehouse duties. Operate the railcar raw material transfer system. Conduct routine safety and equipment inspections. Perform operational equipment preventive maintenance activities. Participate in team activities in support of plant improvements. Back-up the Packaging and Shipping Area Coordinator as necessary.The Wyandotte Engineering Plastics Compounding facility is one of three plants in North America, with similar facilities in Europe and Asia. The facility operators twin-screw extruders to produce polyamide 6, polyamide 6,6, and polybutylene terephthalate compounds. Materials produced serve the automotive, industrial, and electronics industries. Formula for Success:
You Will Provide accurate labeling and record keeping of the pack out area and follow the process procedures to ensure contamination free product to customers Read production schedules, package finished goods with highly accurate labeling that meets customer requirements Operate packaging equipment safely and efficiently to maintain positive workflow through the production process Understand that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of BASF's Vision and Guiding Principle and follow all policies and procedures as applicable Understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO/TS 16949 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities Maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned area of operation and work closely with other business functions to improve communications Participate in problem-solving to make improvements to safety, quality, productivity, and people processes This position is part of a job family. What We Look For in You High school diploma or GED certificate plus 4 years of related experience in a chemical manufacturing environment Proficiency in industrial math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning Ability to continuously learn and adapt to change.
