POSITION DESCRIPTION: Conduct data analysis using machine learning algorithms. Design and implement recommender systems that personalize user experience on TripAdvisors website. Specifically, design predictive models powering Revenue Management tool across TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals sites. Refine Revenue Management tool for Vacation Rentals by matching suppliers and travelers. Analyze traffic patterns, looking to make inferences from behavior data that will help users find relevant content. Measure and test both algorithmic and UI changes iteratively, letting data guide decision making process. Refine disciplined experimentation, testing, and measurement framework and process. Work with other TripAdvisor teams to understand user behavior as it relates to business objectives. Communicate technical findings to management and other non-technical audiences within company. Automate and enhance fraud-detection in various areas of business.
REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field and 1 year of work experience in job offered or 1 year of work experience in a data scientist-related occupation. Education or experience must include:
1) Mathematical problem solving;
2) Coding in statistical programming environment;
3) Software development;
4) Databases and SQL;
5) Data analysis, Machine learning;
6) Scientific modeling;
7) Technical writing;
8) Clustering algorithms;
9) Classification algorithms, Regression algorithms;
10) Dimensionality reduction techniques;
11) Natural language processing;
12) Artificial neural networks, Bayesian networks;
13) Genetic algorithms; and
14) Handling large volumes of data.
Experience may be gained concurrently.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
