Responsible for performing pre registration for all assigned areas, verifying the accuracy of existing data, contacting patients by phone and updating demographic and insurance as necessary. Work closely with other departments like patient accounts, physicians offices, specialty clinics and ancillary departments. Help ensure proper patient handling by following established protocols and procedures and will be assigned a regular workday schedule. During the course of a normal workday, the central registration clerk will be required to deal with patients of all ages. Responsible for providing coverage for front desk staff. Responsible for verifying demographic information, obtaining the patients signature as authorization for consent to treat, scheduling follow-up appointments, deleting appointments for no shows and cancellations, collecting patient co pays and payments, and is responsible for distributing medical history forms and patient satisfaction surveys. The central registration clerk helps ensure proper patient handling by following established protocols and procedures.
Requirements
Basic office skills including PC, typing/keyboarding and phone experience. Familiarity with the health care environment and medical terminology is an asset. Prior clerical experience desired. Must have excellent people skills.
