Field Chemist/Project Consultant II

We are an established company entering a new growth phase. We have a need to add a Field Chemist/Project Consultant to our team. We are looking for a candidate with at least 5 years of experience with field chemistry and hazardous waste regulations to provide project support for hazardous, liquid industrial, universal, and medical waste management/spill cleanup/waste consulting projects. Additional responsibilities will include environmental site assessments, remediation, and UST closures. The project support will be focused on project operations at our Cadillac, Michigan, facility.

We are seeking an outgoing, hard-working and independent person to assist the manager of our Northwest Michigan Operations. Your day-to-day work will include, but is not limited to:
Review and assess chemical inventories in preparation for proper waste handling and/or disposal.
Properly complete regulatory documents for compliant transport and disposal of waste materials.
Prepare safety and work plans for the proper packaging, labeling, manifesting and transport of hazardous, liquid industrial, universal, and medical wastes.
Perform consolidation of hazardous materials/wastes (including bulk packaging and repackaging).
Review and assess chemical spills to perform safe, compliant and timely cleanup.
Operate a commercial motor vehicle transporting hazardous materials and wastes for recycling and/or disposal.
Unconditional job requirements:
Self-starter, efficient, productive, works well with a team.
BA/BS in environmental science, chemistry or biology or equivalent.
Must be able to frequently move/lift equipment and supplies weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
Due to insurance requirements, the candidate must be at least 23 years of age and have a clean driving record.
Successful completion of OSHA/DOT physical examination and drug test.
MS Office skills and computer experience to handle day-to-day project assignments, reports and some Excel work.

Qualifications:
5-10 years relative education and experience
HAZWOPPER trained
Certified UST Class B Operator
Training certification for OSHA Emergency Response
Training certification for OSHA Confined Space Entry and Emergency Rescue
Training for First Responder and CPR
Training for USDOT Hazardous Materials Regulations
Other professional credentials as assigned (CHMM, PE, Drinking Water, etc.)
Proficiencies:
Advanced knowledge of hazardous waste, liquid industrial waste, and universal waste
management standards and practices.
Advanced knowledge of US Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Regulations
(HMR).
Advanced knowledge Class A, B, and C underground storage tank operator and certification
standards.
Advanced knowledge of environmental sampling and sample handling techniques and
requirements.
Advanced knowledge of federal and state NPDES Stormwater and wastewater discharge
requirements.
Advanced knowledge of federal and state safe drinking water standards.
Advanced knowledge of environmental remediation and UST removal and closure assessment
requirements.
Advanced knowledge of Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control Plan (SPCC); Pollution
Prevention Plan (PIPP); and other emergency planning requirements (SARA, RCRA, DOT)
Technical report writing.
Ability to review, interpret, and assess collected data and analytical results.
Advanced computer skills for MS Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities:
Review weekly schedules and time reporting for assigned staff.
Schedule and/or coordinate staff as needed to complete assigned projects.
Attend and participate in periodic Team meetings as scheduled
Attend and participate in weekly safety meetings and discuss safety related issues for upcoming
personal and team assignments.
Attend and participate in monthly safety and professional development training and discuss
Team and Company project activities.
Sales/marketing as directed.

System development support and implementation.
Equipment and materials inspection, repair, and maintenance.

Client Facing
Responsibilities:
Safe, compliant and timely completion of project tasks and assignments.
Oversight and coordination of various services offered by the Company.
o Project scope determination.
o Preparation of project proposals/quotations, submit and follow-up. o Staff coordination and scheduling.
Primary client point of contact for Wolverine Power.
Contractor coordination and management.
Time and expense reporting.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
