The Woodburn Police Department is currently hiring for Entry Level Police Officer (Recruit). All testing through National Testing Network (NTN) must be completed by June 30, 2015. A department application is due by June 16, 2015.
Salary Information: Entry Level/Recruit officers begin at a starting hourly wage of $22.42. Upon the successful completion of an 18 month probationary period and attaining a Basic Police Certificate through DPSST, education/certification incentives, language incentives, longevity pay and premium pay available depending on assignment is available.

Department Overview: Members of the Woodburn Police Department work closely with our culturally diverse community. Each member of the organization is a vital component in providing leadership and confidence to our citizens through education as well as enforcement. WPD officers are provided with the tools and training necessary to be effective and contemporary when serving the community. Many members of the WPD are instructors and leaders not only in the law enforcement arena, but in service and community organizations.
Area Information: Woodburn is a city in Marion County, Oregon. Incorporated in 1889, the community was platted in 1871 after the arrival of the railroad. The city is located in the northern end of the Willamette Valley along Interstate 5 between Portland and Salem. Oregon routes 211, 214, 219, and 99E also serve the city, as do Union Pacific and Willamette Valley Railway freight rail lines.
Woodburn is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area, it is the third most populous in that metropolitan area after Salem and Keizer. Those who identify as Hispanic or Latino make up a majority of the population in the city. The Woodburn area also has a significant population of Russian Orthodox Old Believers.

Job Requirements:
o21 years of age;
oPossess a high school diploma or equivalent;
oUnited States citizen without prior criminal conviction except for minor traffic violations
oCandidates will be subject to a background investigation, including but not limited to, criminal and driving histories;
oPossess of a valid Class C Oregon Driver's license and an acceptable driving record;
oAbility to pass a physical, hearing, visual, and psychological exam.
oAbility to read and write English
oAbility to type by touch; knowledge of and experience using a computer keyboard; and
oAbility to work rotating shifts, subject to call back or other alternative work schedules.
Preferred
Qualifications: Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Russian
ORPAT is scheduled separately from the NTN home page. You must schedule both a FrontLine National and ORPAT test for this position. Testing for both FrontLine National and ORPAT is available at the Brooklake campus of Chemeketa Community College.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
