Project Lead the Way/Science Teacher

Job Description: the Project Lead The Way teacher is responsible for classroom instruction of the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Design and Modeling course, which integrates science, technology and math concepts with engineering. The Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program is a pre-engineering program that fosters interest and skills for STEM careers in our global economy. The teacher will also be responsible for classroom instruction of the district science curriculum for grades 7 and 8.
Major Responsibilities Include:
-Unless previously trained in PLTW, teacher must attend necessary PLTW training in order to instruct the PLTW course (including summer).
-If not previously trained in PLTW Design and Modeling, new teacher must attend the Design and Modeling training session at University of Illinois Chicago (July 6 to July 10, 2015).
-New teacher must complete online Readiness Training prior to attendance at Design and Modeling session.
-Participate as an active member/educator of the STEM Academy Team.
-Expand the STEM initiative at the middle school level by establishing partnerships/relationships with local businesses/organizations/corporations/etc.
-Teach other assigned subject: district science curriculum.
-Lead STEM clubs and activities like Engineering Club, Robotics Club, and Annual Science Fair.
-Establish and maintain continual communication with parents/guardians.
-Implement the district science curriculum for grades 7 and 8.
Minimum Qualifications
-Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Middle School General Science Endorsement.
-Successful teaching experience.
-Familiar with technology (chromebooks, projectors, SMART Boards).
Preferred:
-Previous PLTW training
-Previous PLTW teaching experience
-Familiar with Google Apps (the Drive, Gmail, Docs, Spreadsheets, etc.)
