JOB TITLE: FAMILY SERVICE ADVOCATE
JOB LOCATION:(1) Position Citrus County (3) Positions Marion County and (1Position) Levy County (1) Position Dixie County

PAY GRADE: 8--Level I (High School Diploma or Equivalent)
8 --Level II --- New Hire: minimum of pay grade plus 5%
---Current Employee: 5% increase to base pay
(Family /Social Services Certificate or six (6) classes in Human Services)
11A--Level III (Associates Degree in Human Services or Associates Degree with six (6) classes in Human Services)
13B--Level IV (Bachelors Degree in Social Work or Bachelors Degree with six (6) classes in Human Services)
The Family Services Advocate is responsible for advocating on an ongoing basis on behalf of his/her assigned children and families to help identify the family's needs, set goals, and assist in locating services and resources within Head Start and throughout the community. The Family Services Advocate is responsible for monitoring his/her assigned Head Start/ Early Head Start classrooms and ensuring that they are in compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, including Family Services, Training, Support Services and Parent Involvement. The Family Services Advocate is responsible for the recruitment of children for the program in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Advocate for children and families within Head Start/Early Head Start and the community.
2. Conduct Parent Orientations for new Head Start/Early Head Start families.
3. Complete a Family Partnership Agreement with each family and follow up as required.
4. Maintain monthly contact with each family in assigned classrooms.
5. Make intra-agency and inter-agency referrals as needed.
6. Visit assigned classrooms on a weekly basis and submit a written report for each visit.
7. Complete monthly classroom checklists as required.
8. Maintain current and accurate records, master files, and tracking forms on all children in assigned classrooms.
9. Assist teaching staff in maintaining current and accurate classroom files.
10. Transport children and families to appointments as needed.
11. Review and correct monthly Non-Federal Share forms for each assigned classroom.
12. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork and reports as required.
13. Attend weekly and monthly staff meetings, monthly parent meetings, trainings, seminars, and/or workshops.
14. Make at least one home visit (more if necessary) with every assigned family each school year.
15. Assist in updating annual plans, policies and procedures.
16. Attend local and out-of-state trainings and meetings as mandated by State and Federal regulatory agencies and/or CDS.

MINIMUM
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1.High School diploma or equivalent (Associates or Bachelor's Degree as defined in levels of pay is preferred).
2.One year (12months) experience in Human Services/social work field working with children and families, assessing needs and assisting in finding resources to meet such needs. Examples of this type of work experience include:
a.Providing community resources to families in crisis, including acting on behalf of clients unable to do so themselves.
b.Completing home visits that include assessments, writing family assistance plans, providing crisis intervention and offer information/referrals for other services.
c.Documenting/reporting history of families (case history).
d.Helping clients find and apply for direct services, such as public assistance, Medicaid, housing or childcare, caseworkers often assist with advocacy and care coordination.
e.Assisting clients with scheduling appointments, obtaining services or bringing clients to appointments.
3.Acceptable Mover Vehicle Records check is required for the position as determined by the liability insurance company. Re-screening of driving record completed yearly.
4.Knowledge of Head Start rules and regulations.
5.Knowledge of community resources available.
6.Current certificate in First Aid and Adult/Infant/Child CPR (or enrollment in a course within 90 days of hire).
7.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
8.Computer literacy with word processing skills.
9.Ability to travel to assigned classrooms within the County.
10.Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Job requires being able to bend, sit on floor, and lift/carry 40 pounds, (e.g. carry recruitment materials, set up canopy for recruitment, carry snow cone machine and ice chests, and assist in classrooms).
2.Job requires being able to walk a minimum of one mile and climb stairs, (e.g. center classroom visits and recruitment activities).
3.Job requires being able to stand on feet for long periods of time, (e.g. two to four hours during recruitment events.)
4.Job requires being able to sit at desk and write continuously for periods of two to four hours to complete reports, (e.g. classroom visit reports and case management reports).
5.Job requires being able to play with children, in classroom and on playground, when filling in for classroom teachers.
6.Job requires being mobile in traversing various kinds of surfaces such as pavement, gravel, grass, dirt, etc., (e.g. while going to and from and working at recruiting events).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
