QA Manager/Director

The Quality Assurance Manager/Director is responsible for all aspects of product quality management, including periodic production line inspection programs, bacterial testing and analysis procedures, sanitation inspection programs, product attribute inspection procedures, documentation procedures, regulatory compliance, and all internal and external communications related to quality issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Manage all daily Quality Assurance activities, including:
o Collaborate with the Sanitation group to ensure all equipment and work areas are properly cleaned and sanitized and ready for production startup.
o Perform weekly environmental testing including bacterial swabs, plating, evaluation and record keeping.
o Production line periodic inspection procedures including packaging appearance, leaker tests, code date accuracy, die temperature checks, metal detector tests, scale checks, and weight control program accuracy.
o Monitor adherence to cGMP guidelines and take corrective action as necessary.
o Perform shelf life testing on all products.
o Lead the corrective action process on all non-conforming product and returns.
o Document results for all QA programs as required by Company policies and procedures.
Train and supervise the QA staff as needed to maintain acceptable job performance.
Ensure that all Company QA policies and procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements such as HACCP AND GMP'S.
Function as the primary contact for the company with all regulatory agencies involved with product quality and food safety, such as the FDA and state agencies.
Act as the back-up to the Plant Manager/SQF Practitioner regarding SQF System monitoring.
Ensure SQF procedures are followed and perform validation audits.
Collaborate with all management team members on quality issues, policies and procedures.
Effectively communicate and interact with customers and suppliers when appropriate to respond to and address quality issues.

Qualifications:
? Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements for food production operations and industry product quality requirements.
? Competent in applicable laboratory testing procedures.
? Knowledgeable in food plant sanitation practices.
? Above average communications skills, both written and verbal.
? Excellent employee relations skills.
? Competent with computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
? Good judgment and a high level of business integrity.
EDUCATION &
Experience:
? A Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field is required.
? 2 to 5 years of related work experience in a food production facility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
? Some heavy lifting required occasionally.
? Extended periods of time standing and walking in temperature controlled production and storage environments.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
