Summary: Establishing and maintaining sales, profit goals, and controllable expenses in the produce department through the correct ordering, handling, and merchandising of the produce items and seeing that all work in the department is done in accordance with sound basic management principles and in the most efficient manner.
Major duties:
Follow all produce operations and merchandising programs.
Orders all produce.
Receives and checks all produce deliveries upon arrival to see that all merchandise is in good condition and that the correct quantity and weight are received.
Sees that all produce products are properly prepared, handled, stocked, and merchandised or stored and that all produce products in the backroom storage are checked daily.
Plans special promotions and displays.
Sees that all produce merchandise is rotated according to code dating policies.
Is responsible for signage, gross profit, inventory, and freshness control.
Determines Manager's Specials consistent with quality and quantity sells items at minimum loss. Keeps the Store Director informed of all markdowns and losses.
Keeps the produce department fixtures, equipment, and area free from accident hazards at all times.
Handles all store property and equipment in such a manner as to secure maximum use.
Bookkeeping, including all paper work and record keeping.
Scheduling and labor control standards.
Properly trains personnel assigned to the produce department.
Maintains a high level of product knowledge and merchandising ability to accomplish produce department goals.
Maintains courteous and friendly customer relations.
Inventory control; quarterly physical inventoryEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
