Position
Summary:
With general direction, applies accounting principles to record, analyze and monitor financial information. Prepares financial reports and statements in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance with company accounting policies. This position may act as a resource for accounting and non-accounting personnel on various accounting projects and assignments.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to document business transactions in the general ledger system as well as assemble, prepare and maintain source documents and audit support for the journal entries.
Reconciles balance sheet accounts and statistical data and fully analyses financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
Collects and analyzes financial data and prepares monthly combined financial statements and reports. Performs additional analysis for explanatory text required for reports and statement. Coordinates preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for accuracy.
Assists with the preparation of year-end closings. Prepares annual long-term and short-term financial statements in compliance with accounting guidelines and U.S. GAAP. Assists in the preparation of working papers for annual audit.
Provides guidance to other Finance personnel for proper internal and external financial accounting procedures and their application.
Assists the Operations Controller with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, updates, and strategic plans assigned areas; coordinates preparation of monthly combining entries to combine financial results.
Assists the Operations Controller with the maintenance and application of internal controls. In doing so, utilizes discretion and judgment as to matters of significance.
Prepares basic financial reports in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Skills:
A thorough knowledge of Accounting or Finance obtained from a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field of study.
Required:
A thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Three years of related accounting experience.
Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.
Ability to effectively manage time, multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision.
Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment.
Preferred:
Experience with PeopleSoft accounting software.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
