Van Driver (Desktop Delivery)
This position is Vanguard Direct's primary means of advertising and direct contact with customers. A van driver is responsible for the on-time, accurate and professional pick-up or delivery of orders directly to the recipient identified in the ship to address on the delivery ticket or bill of lading. This assignment requires a highly refined sense of accuracy as well as a thorough commitment to meeting customer's expectations.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
o Drive to delivery/pick-up locations (always safely and courteously).
o Verify correct cartons are loaded with proper documentation into truck, without exception.
o Route delivery/pick-up sequence based on customer requests and geographic logic.
o Delivery to desktop of individual identified in ship to address.
o Open each carton and count out contents before obtaining customer signature.
o Interface with receiving dock/security to assure Vanguard vehicle is parked in a safe location.
o Maintain neat and organized truck.
o Perform Vehicle Inspection Report each day without exception.
o Perform miscellaneous tasks requested by Delivery/Dispatch Supervisor or Mgmt Staff.
o Complete and turn-in Drivers Log each day
o Be in uniform each day without exception at all times.
Minimum Requirements
o High School or High School equivalent
o Valid NY / NJ /CT Drivers License. Clean Drivers License.
o Geographic expertise of all five boroughs of New York City.
o Ability to understand and interpret street signs and DOT warnings and markings.
o Ability to understand and interpret e-mail correspondence.
o Ability to participate in development of and implementation of standard operating procedures. Perform basic business mathematics.
o Highly refined customer service skills.
o Ability to walk extensively throughout customer locations.
o Ability to lift cartons up to 45 pounds.
o Possess a high energy level.
o Drivers work Monday through Friday from 7:00AM until when their route is finishedas early as 2:30PM or as late as 8:00PM. Usually they are finished by 5:00PM. Some Saturdays delivery efforts are requiredmaybe 3-4 times a year.
