Our client, a building materials company, is in need of a talented and motivated
Road Transportation Manager
to join their team ASAP!
You will be responsible for determining best practices and integrating the Aggregate Industries US (AIUS) trucking activities for cement. Once best practice has been defined and implemented, the position will manage all aspects of the AIUS trucking activities for cement and aggregates. The Road Transportation Manager will have overall responsibility for contracts with service providers as well as manage their performance.
Primary responsibilities
:
Define and facilitate implementation of consistent best practices for aggregate logistics and distribution processes, systems and tools
Identify synergies in logistics between all product lines and implement action plans for achievement
Negotiate together with Procurement and local management on all road freight contracts and agreements
Develop strategic alliances with our road service providers where appropriate
Partner with the Safety team to ensure vendors comply with relevant safety requirements
Develop, implement and oversee a certification program for logistics suppliers
Issue logistics monthly business reports including key performance indicators (KPI's)
Maintain awareness of all industry developments via key trade associations, government contacts, journals, seminars, conferences
Benchmark performance versus key competitors
Develop a team to manage all aspects of aggregate road transportation services
Provide a mechanism for rapid conflict solution
Establish a process that will provide wide access to road transportation rates and the quick development of freight rates for potential logistics networks and studies
Maintain close coordination and communication with regional management, terminals, procurement and customers
Other duties as assigned.
For the first year this position will have at least 50% travel, after the first year this will be reduced to 25% - 30%.
This position reports to the Director, Supply Chain Mgmt & Logistics.

MUST HAVE:
o Road transportation experience (trucking)
o 3-5 years logistics experience
o Minimum 1-3 experience in leadership positions/supervisory experience
o Bachelor's degree
o Excellent negotiation, communication and analytical skills
PREFERRED:
o Dump or pneumatic bulk tankers experience
A PLUS:
o SAP efficiency

Full time position
Salary: $80,000 to $120,000
Bonus: $15,000 to $25,000
