Flying Qualities Engineer

Overview:
Main Purpose of the RoleTSC is seeking a Flying Qualities Engineer with experience in flight vehicle performance, stability and control, and flight test planning, preparation & execution.
This experience should include test plan development, real-time control room monitoring, post test data analysis, authoring test plans and formal test reports.
The purpose of this role will be to support the envelope expansion flight testing of WK2 and SS2 vehicles to support entry into commercial service.
Responsibilities:
Key Componentso Develops test plans and requirements for flying qualities and performance flight testingo Supports flight test preparation by calculating vehicle performance and handling qualities predictions and limitationso Will be a member of the TSC flight test team, including supporting real-time monitoring in the control room during flight test for performance & flying qualitieso Conducts post flight data analysis and provides updates as necessary to improve vehicle performance or handlingo Develops standardized analysis and reporting toolso Documents test data and results through informal and formal test reports

Educational RequirementsBS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and 5
years' experience (Aerospace Technology degrees are not acceptable.
) Key Requirementso Academic and professional experience in sub-sonic, transonic, and supersonic aerodynamics, performance, stability & control, and flying qualities highly desiredo Control Room experience in a high speed (fighter) flight test envelope expansion program highly desiredo Test plan development & data analysis experience highly desiredo A minimum of 3 to 5
years relevant flight test industry experienceo Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, military or NASA are highly desired o Pilot and aircraft homebuilding experience a strong pluso Experience in the use of MATLAB and IADS a strong pluso Ability to successfully complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and oversighto Excellent verbal and written communication skillso Excellent organizational and problem-solving skillso Strong team playero Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointo Applicants must be U.
