Communications Specialist (Congressional Liaison)

This position is located in the Office of the Medical Center Director at the VA Medical Center in Manchester NH.
The incumbent serves as a principal action officer on behalf of the Director by providing factual timely replies to written and telephonic inquiries from Members of Congress, their committees and staff.
This includes Serving as the primary point of contact on individual cases that require expert advice and guidance and resolving complex and unusual tasks.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
o Formulating official responses to written congressional inquiries o Providing information on inquiries with a wide range of subjects dealing with policies and personnel.
o Exercising initiative, originality, resourcefulness and sound judgment in gathering information to develop and formulate replies.
o Independently relaying information in writing or telephonicallyo Drafting and editing responses for accuracy, tone, clarity, format, grammar, and proseo Identifying information which contains an element of evasion or specious reasoningo Ensuring replies are factualo Reviewing and analyzing information on direct responses received from the staff agencies or field commands to ensure that replies fully address all issues raised, and that they are consistent with VA and/or VHA policyo Providing specific factual information on inquiries received from Congressional officeso Responding to inquiries based on accumulated knowledge or research as requiredo Exercising tact, sound judgment and discretion in verbally advising and assisting Congressional staff memberso Overseeing complaints received from the constituent and personally providing assistance to them that is sufficient to address the issues that have been presented.
o Performs other directly related duties as assigned The duties of this position require mastery of writing and editing techniques and skill in researching, verifying facts and organizing complex regulatory or program information into concise responses.
In addition the ideal candidate will possess skill in verbal communication and personal interactions, to include the ability to express facts diplomatically without damaging relationships.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
