Human Resources Manager

Industrial Insulation Group (IIG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Johns Manville, has an immediate opportunity for a plant Human Resource Manager/Generalist located in our Phenix City, AL plant. Situated directly west of Columbus GA, Phenix City is included in the Columbus, Georgia-Alabama Metropolitan Area. Phenix City is located in Lee County, and is, therefore, in the Auburn, Alabama metropolitan area in Alabama.
The HR Generalist provides HR management support for the manufacturing complex to include employee relations, performance management, recruiting, administration of compensation and benefits programs, change management, local HRIS, training/development, and talent management. The incumbent will provide support to a complex consisting of approximately 200 Regular and temporary employees. This position reports to the overall HR Manager.
Responsibilities:
oCoaches managers in performance management including addressing performance issues, rewarding superior performance, and communicating performance expectations to employees
oManages the overall performance appraisal process works with managers to source and select top talent, develop succession plans, and develop employees; manages the staffing process including sourcing, interviewing, offer preparation and maintain compliance with local and federal employment laws;
oWorks with managers to plan and implement change with a focus on ensuring effective employee communications
oWorks with managers to minimize change impact and with employees to ensure change acceptance
oCoaches managers in understanding employee issues and concerns and underlying causes, promote direct lines of communications between employees and management, coaches managers in understanding local labor and compliance issues, advises managers of legal issues oActs as advocate for employees who are being treated unfairly
oEnsures that the workplace is free from hostility or intimidation
oIdentifies HR process improvements to better serve employees and managers and communicates HR processes to employees oAssists employees with benefits and other HR programs
oManages and mentors an HR Coordinator(s)


Requirements:
oBA/BS degree in relevant discipline. MBA or PHR/SPHR certification desirable but not required.
o7 years in either a generalist role or in a succession of assignments in various HR disciplines.
oDirect experience working in a manufacturing environment
oProven ability to work with the workforce to safely meet business objectives
oExperience or exposure to change management
oStrong performance management background with particular emphasis on managing an objective based appraisal process.
oExperience with talent management, including recruitment, succession planning, and employee development.
oComprehensive knowledge of human resource practices, applicable local and federal laws and regulations.
oProven coaching, counseling and communication (verbal, written and presentation/facilitation) skills.
oSolid management and leadership skills.
oSolid problem resolution and negotiation skills.
oAbility to work in a team environment as well as independently.
oComputer proficiency in software applications to include analysis, letter writing, email communications, and graphic presentations.
Additional Consideration:
oExperience in a strong process improvement environment that utilizes Six Sigma, Lean or similar discipline
oExperience as a change agent.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
