PROGRAM ASSISTANT

This is a TEMPORARY, not to exceed one (1) year, position.
This appointment may be renewed for additional service in accordance with Agency needs.

This position is located in the Patient Services Section of the Business Office Service Line at the VA Medical Center in Bedford, MA.
Under the general direction of the Business Office Manager, the Program Assistant has oversight for the facility-wide Records Management Program and initiatives regardless of the medium (paper, film, electronic or some other format).
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
o Develops, implements, and disseminates local facility policies and procedures related to non-medical records management;o Conducts focused monitors and audits of records created and maintained by service lines;o Identifies recordkeeping requirements for major programmatic and administrative record series;o Evaluates the disposition of records within their life span to serve as a basis for assigning records retention instructions and implementing the most responsive and cost effective means for managing them;o Collaborates with the facility Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and management to develop, implement and maintain a disaster preparedness and business continuity program specific to records and information;o Ensures vital records are identified, inventoried, and protected to continue key functions and activities in an emergency;o Provides ongoing general and/or program specific training to medical center staff related to records management, and ensures all record liaisons are trained on the creation, maintenance, use, storage and disposition of the records created within their area of responsibility;o Maintains current knowledge of records management requirements;o Coordinates records storage, maintenance, and disposition with the VA Records Center and Vault or other NARA-approved records storage facilities and ensures that no records are destroyed without proper authorization as specified in the Federal Records Act; ando Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:
30pm.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
