GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
This is skilled, specialized work of varied difficulty in preventing, suppressing and extinguishing fires; performing rescue and emergency medical services and/or performing special assignment duties in support of fire-rescue operations.
Department Information:
Longboat Key Fire Rescue is a small progressive Fire/EMS ALS-Transport department with 37 employees (33 combat, 2 non-commissioned, 2 administrative) located on a barrier island in Southwest Florida. 2 fire stations protect 4.26 square miles of land and an additional 17 square miles of surrounding water areas. Work schedule shift duty comprised of 24-hour on/48-hour off. Each shift includes a Deputy Chief, 2 Lieutenants and 8 Paramedic/Firefighters. Longboat Key Fire Rescue responds to approximately 1,500 calls for service annually, with about 72% being requests for Emergency Medical Services.

Longboat Key is a barrier island community located on Florida's west coast. The northern portion of Longboat Key is in Manatee County and the southern portion is in Sarasota County. Our neighboring inland communities are Bradenton and Sarasota Florida. The island is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico on the west and Sarasota Bay on the east.

Necessary Certifications:
oState of Florida Firefighter Certification
oState of Florida Paramedic Certification
oEmergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) - 16 hours
oSuccessful completion of CPAT and NTN FireTeam Testing
oMust Possess or obtain within 2 years of hire a Florida State Municipal Fire Inspector Certification to be maintained for the duration of employment

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
