Controller
Summary:
The Controller will work closely with senior leadership and the board of directors to provide overall financial leadership for a non-profit organization.
Responsibilities:
Prepare financial packages, including statements of financial position; statements of activities; analysis of variances from budget; investment analysis; staff and program reports; and other financial reports
Direct the timely month-end and year-end close processes
Lead the process of preparing the general operating budget, capital budget, and all other necessary budgets for presentation to the organization's board of directors for approval; monitor performance of approved budgets
Provide timely, accurate, and easily understood analyses of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist in decision-making and goal execution
Develop plans with senior leadership and within the department for budgeting, accounting systems, reporting, internal auditing, and financial analysis
Recommend and implement improvements to accounting procedures, assuring efficiency and compliance with grantor and government regulations
Oversee operations for owned and leased properties to ensure all property and fixed assets are managed in a cost-effective manner, have the proper legal title, and are insured at the required levels
Coordinate financial audits; identify and implement opportunities for improved efficiencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, business administration, or a related field required; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred
10 years of experience in accounting and finance roles with increasing responsibilities; nonprofit accounting experience preferred
Proven ability to translate complex financial reporting into easily-understood material and communicate information to staff and board members
Knowledge and understanding of the board's and committee's financial accountabilities
Ability to plan, execute, and deliver on projects and tasks in a timely manner
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, appropriately, and effectively with all levels of staff

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
