Night Plant Supervisor

Responsible for the day-to-day oversight for all Operations departments with or without direct supervisory presence during the assigned shifts including production departments, maintenance, and QA. Responsibilities include: assist in managing the departments, troubleshoot and solve problems, issue and follow through with work orders and assigned projects by identifying areas for improvement and integrate those ideas into the overall plan for the operations department. Also, manage personnel issues in a manner that enhances effective work relationships to include facilitating continuous improvement activities in all operations areas.

DUTIES:
Supervise the Night operational activities with a focus on safety, quality, maximizing yields and maintaining a cost efficient operation

Ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed
Plan, organize and direct the shift to accomplish operations goals.
Communicate goals to the crew
Ensure that employees are trained and cross-trained in a fair and efficient manner
Address performance issues in a timely, consistent, and confidential manner
Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance individual and team performance
Review daily production data and maintain priority balance; organize and prepare efficiency summaries
Reports all exceptions to product or ingredient quality as appropriate based on the seriousness/urgency of the situation
Work with operators to troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems and other production issues
Implement plans to correct any problems that are identified, determine where and why the problem occurred, and oversee specific corrective actions. Follow up corrective action to verify solutions are effective.
Utilize labor and supplies in the most cost effective manner possible to control costs
Assist in the managing of inventories and consumption of materials utilizing the ERP (NAV) system
Look for areas of opportunity, facilitate, implement and sustain continuous improvement activities.
Build teamwork by treating people with respect and encouraging cooperation, involvement, and information sharing
Ensure compliance with USDA, OSDA, FDA, and other regulatory product safety requirements

Monitor use of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Establish manufacturing quality control point testing and measures
Implement plans to correct any problems that are identified, determine where and why the problem occurred, and oversee specific corrective action
Review the previous day's production and laboratory reports of product analysis
Establish effective working relationship with Quality Assurance
Work with the maintenance department to prioritize, plan, schedule, monitor and follow up on repairs and preventative maintenance

Establish effective working relationship with maintenance engineering
Work with others to identify conditions which pose a risk to safety, quality or production.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and
Experience:

High school diploma or GED required. A Bachelor's degree is a plus.

5 years of progressively responsible experience managing operations with lead or supervisor experience.

2 years of food manufacturing experience. Experience supervising a unionized facility is a plus.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Must be computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. SharePoint and ERP systems knowledge is a plus.

Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.

Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.

Physical Requirements: Weekend and off-shift work is required. Some travel is required.

Salary is DOE with excellent benefits. There is relocation assistance for this role.
