Description

The Investigative Services Department is responsible for the investigation of company misconduct, allegations, fraud, and other threats to the company. In addition, the department provides litigation support, conducts forensics and incident response, and critical data recovery for SPE.

During FY15, SPE was the target of a major cyber attack. Investigative Services was tasked with heading the investigation, overseeing outside consulting, and partnering with federal and local law enforcement. Moving into FY16, a major project will continue to both provide additional security to SPE through the implementation of state-of-the-art forensic and investigative applications as well as continuing to assist the company's recovery effort from damage sustained during the attack.

Interns assigned to this project will gain cutting edge experience and exposure to a post-hack environment and will gain knowledge and skills relevant to forensic lab development and architecture. SPE lab design and implementation will be a global effort, headed by our lab in Culver City. Interns will get international exposure to our remote teams, worldwide forensic network, and privacy/legal concerns surrounding data privacy

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
