The CLG team includes Home Lending, Consumer Credit Card, Personal Loans and Lines, Direct Auto, Dealer Services, Commercial Auto, Retail Services and Education Financial Services including the professional services teams that partner with these businesses - Human Resources, Finance, Credit Risk, and Compliance & Operational Risk.
This role will be responsible to support CCS Collections teams in developing, implementing and maintaining risk-based operational risk programs to assure compliance with the corporate complaints policy and any associated legal or regulatory requirements.
The objective will be to identify and mitigate risks associated with processes, people, system, or external events, and may also include ensuring compliance with regulatory guidance.
Strong understanding of the businesses supported and demonstrate an elevated ability to report findings and recommendations to senior management.
It is very important that the Consultant builds and maintain strong collaborative relationships with cross functional partners in the Law Department, Compliance and Operational Risk, Risk, Line of Business Partners and Consumer Lending business units.
Maintain a high degree of knowledge of applicable laws and regulations impacting the Wells Fargo Consumer Credit Solutions organization.
Responsible:
- Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based programs to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
- Manage the relationship with CCS business partners while providing Compliance and Operational Risk support.
This may include activities such as interpreting policies, consulting on procedures, and providing expertise during corrective action design and business change management.
- Works with complex business units and provides operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk.
This includes providing credible challenge to validate the state of compliance and effectiveness of controls.
- Partners with the COR test team to help design and develop testing strategies, methodologies and evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; analyzes business and/or system changes to determine impact, identifies and assesses operational risk issues and assigns risk ratings consistent with established policy standards.
- Reports findings and develops business cases to influence senior management on the need for controls to mitigate risk.
- May be required to manage project teams and provide guidance to less experienced consultants.
- Works closely with other COR Consultants including groups supporting Third Party Collections to ensure consistent handling across CCS and CLG.
- Monitor the external environment (peer bank performance, court decisions, media reports, regulator websites, etc.
) to identify emerging risks and then lead or participate in impact assessments for CCS COR Collections.

- Ability to read complex documents (legislation, corporate policies, supervisory agency guidance, and compliance activity reports), interpret the material, and identify how the topics apply to the CCS lines of business.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization, develop partnerships with many business and functional areas, provide insight into the evolving risk management environment, and ability to clearly articulate potential gaps in the business group's approach to risk management.
- Demonstrated excellence at identifying stakeholders, understanding needs, and driving to resolution.
- Exceptional communication, with strong influence and negotiation skills.
- Experience using discretion to manage sensitive information.
- Ability to manage conflict and provide credible challenge to the business on risk related issues.
- Background in regulatory or corporate requirements.
- Self-starter who can work both autonomously and within a team structure.
- Operations experience, including Research and Remediation, Loan Administration, or Collections experience, via direct experience, or through support of an operations (Loan Administration Support, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Operational Risk, Project Management, Social Media Analysis, etc.
).
- Previous compliance and operational risk management experience with consumer lending products.
- Background includes proven leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience working in collections.
- Certification in a relevant risk management discipline, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), etc.
- Bachelor's degree.
