Essential Functions:
A Nuclear Medicine Technician performs diagnostic Radiology and/or Cardiology Nuclear Medicine procedures and prepares reports for physician interpretation.
Handles radio pharmaceuticals in safe manner consistent with state and federal regulations.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to perform all aspects of job requirements and to provide the care appropriate to all ages of patients served.
Provides care in compliance with established department and medical center policies and procedures.
Calculates radio - pharmaceutical doses.
Assures that materials contaminated with radionuclide' s are handled and disposed of in a safe and appropriate manner.
Upholds radiation safety guidelines.
Communicates patient care issues with physicians.
Anticipates patient/family needs and assists with exceeding customer expectations in meeting needs.
Covers department call as scheduled.
Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested Requirements:
Associate's degree (A.
A.
), or equivalent, from JRCERT approved college or technical school program; and one year experience nuclear medicine technology experience preferred.
Compassion for patients, family members, and others; along with a nurturing spirit to provide care during emotionally stressful situations.
Must display good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to professionally receive and follow oral instructions.
RT(R), or RT(R) (N), or CNMT Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers offered by the American Heart Association or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer offered by the Red Cross within 30 days post date of hire.
