Supply Technician

The Incumbent serves as Inventory Manager with full responsibility for managing, coordinating, controlling, purchasing and administrating over 8000 medical/surgical supplies and equipment required to support Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) to include Temple, Waco, Austin Outpatient Clinic and CBOCs located in Brownwood, Palestine, Bryan/College Station and Cedar Park.

The duties of this position are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
The major duties include, but are not limited to:
o Plans and directs the enforcement of improved methods, pointing towards reduced effort and greater efficiency in the determination of requirements; the objective being a sound inventory position;o Keep operating services supplied without an over investment in stock that would create unwarranted excesses, obsolesces, or an unfavorable or out of balance inventory;o Develops and executes plans for improved communications with operating services to better analyze their requirements;o Analyzes studies and applies sound distribution methods to preclude problems and to afford equitable distribution of supplies within fund and space availability;o Prepares recommendations for procurement of medical supplies and equipment;o Coordinates with acquisition specialists to develop specifications for supply levels and sources to support complex mission or class of material;o Uses in-depth knowledge of supply sources to identify and resolve delinquency in availability of key items;o Performs specialized functions and related activities to carry out facility supply operations;o Performs work to manage, regulate, coordinate, or otherwise exercise control over supplies or class of material;o Analyzes, plans and evaluates medical/surgical supply requirements and forecast to determine quantities, determine adequate justification, propriety of need, availability, and locality of purchase and method of procurement;o Plans and initiates requisitions to ensure commitments are within authorized fund and deliveries are phased to correspond to usage requirements;o Serves as the central point of contact and exchange of information for personnel engaged in supply, production, maintenance and users relative to material support problems affecting medical/surgical items at CTVHCS;o Monitors the quality of input/output of the automated inventory management system;o Reviews all assigned line items to ensure that stocking criteria is met and takes corrective measures as necessary;o Executes proper inventory adjustments in the automated inventory management system;o Maintains all due-in records and double-checks receipt documents for accuracy;o Reviews and analyzes delinquent delivery reports, back order reports, outdated inventory reports, inventory balance reports and 90-day inactive reports and initiates corrective action or recommends necessary changes to improve overall inventory management functions;o Maintains an acceptable inventory turn-over rate, inactive items and days of stock on hand;o Serves as the purchasing agent for medical/surgical items managed and uses IFCAP or a Government credit card for processing orders;o Issues small purchasing authority to consummate procurements;o Maintains copies of all MSDS sheets for medical/surgical managed items;o Serves as the Facility Designated Area Specialist for recalls.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
