Registered Nurse (ICU)
This position is located in Patient Care Service at the Salisbury VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.
The ICU Registered Nurse is accountable for collaborating with other health members to develop, implement and coordinate patient care delivery to achieve maximum quality, patient centered care and positive patient outcomes.
Role responsibilities and accountabilities also include demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide acute care appropriation to the population related to the needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice.
This knowledge includes understanding changes associated with aging and special populations, i.
e.
OIF/OEF, Vietnam, Desert Shield/Storm, Korean, WWII, and Iraq.
The employee will perform a combination of duties, such as:
Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers.
Maintain confidentiality of electronic, written, and/or verbal patient/employee information.
Demonstrate working practices that include adherence to Infection Control Standards and the safe use and operation of equipment.
Coordination of patient and family care to include education to mitigate knowledge deficits, and no barriers to learning.
Familiarity with appropriate specimen collection, Laboratory results, critical values/parameters and follow up protocols in collaboration with providers.
A firm working knowledge of treatment, care, evidence based nursing/medical protocols and management of Biopsy Procedures, Pneumothorax, PICC lines and moderate Sedation.
This may consist of :
ECG and Telemetry Monitoring Cardiac Recognition Defibrilaition Cardioversion; Electrical and Pharmaceutical External Temporary Pacemakers; Transvenous and Transcutaneous Hemodynamic Monitoring Mechanical Ventilation Management Code Blue and Rapid Response throughout the Medical Facility Chest Tube Maintenance Emergency Intervention:
BLS/ACLS Tour of Duty:
Weekends, holidays and shift rotations are required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
