Medical Instrument Technician (Anesthesia Technician)

Medical Instrument Technicians (Anesthesia Technicians) serve as members of the Anesthesia Section, a subdivision of the Department of Surgery, at the VA Maine Healthcare System Surgical Service.
The incumbent performs a number of complex examinations and operates a variety of equipment and devices.
The technologist has the overall responsibility for support of the anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in difficult anesthetic procedures under minimal supervision.
Duties include but are not limited to:
o Supports the anesthesiologists and the nurse anesthetists by preparing and setting up of the appropriate equipment and supplies for each surgical case.
o Performs decontamination of reusable supplies and equipment at the conclusion of each case.
o Operates, calibrates and performs routine maintenance on a variety of technical equipment used in the operating room.
o Prepares and administers medications as directed by the attending physician.
o Assists the professional staff with transport of critically ill patients to and from the surgical setting and transports monitors as well as the safe transport of patients with invasive lines.
o Assists with the positioning of patients for invasive procedures on a daily basis.
o Works with designated supplies management staff to monitor adequate inventories of necessary anesthesia supplies and medications, as well as ordering and rotating dated stocks.
o Identifies malfunctioning equipment; trouble shoots equipment problems, and refers more serious equipment problems to appropriate technical repair personnel.
o Routinely employs universal precautions for infectious disease control.
o Maintains a regular maintenance schedule of proper calibration of monitors utilized in the administration of anesthesia.
o Exercises a high degree of independent judgement in anesthesia technology.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
