Corporate Automation Controls & Weld Engineer
The Corporate Automation Controls & Weld Engineer will be required to manage, develop, implement press and automation control standards including control system upgrades for all NASG facilities. They will manage the development of control and automation systems to ensure quality requirements are maintained across the board while assisting business units with automation proposals and costing. Finally, they will oversee sourcing and build through plant buy-off of new equipment builds including mentoring of Plant Manufacturing Engineering Groups.

Education Requirements:
Prefer BS/BA Degree
Training Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years related experience
Knowledge of electrical systems, robotic troubleshooting ,PLC programming, mig and resistance welding experience
Minimum of 5 years experience in welding operations or a combination of 5 years of formal metallurgical education and welding experience
Skills Requirements:
Applicant is required to understand the principles of tooling,fixtures and GDT
Previous AutoCAD experience is an asset
Demonstrate strong leadership qualities
Demonstrate a HANDS ON approach in relation to automation troubleshooting, modifications and improvements
Demonstrate ability to give direction as required to meet all requirements
Must be able to work with all levels of company management as well as customers and vendors
Will posses the organizational skills to maintain company records in compliance with the Engineering
Department and TS-16949 procedures
Microcomputer (PC) knowledge
Conduct self in a professional manner
Organized and posess the ability to identify root cause and long term solutions
Principal Duties &
Responsibilities:
Assist business units with quotes and proposals
Lead process of sourcing automation equipment and determining processes to be used
Oversee new equipment builds to ensure NASG standards are achieved
Process improvement, develop and implement projects as assigned
Design reviews, automation development, tracking, on time delivery and buy off
Oversee build schedule, ensure customer requirements are met on time
Follow-up at shops from placement through sample submission and buy off with plant in conjunction with plant Mfg. Eng. Group
Be responsible for all aspects of the process and report progress any deficiencies at weekly Engineering meetings and to the Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Manager as applicable
Keep abreast of new technology and utilize wherever possible to keep NASG on the leading edge and world class
Assist in customer product development as required
Maintain supplier confidence and cooperation
Reinforce supplier responsibility
Assist in F.M.E.A. pre-production planning and initial samples
Expand supply base to achieve adequate supply at reasonable pricing and delivery.
Upgrade self with training as required for Job Responsibilities.
Participate in CIP committees.
Other duties as assigned by the Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Assist divisonal Mfg.Eng.groups to trouble shoot robotic welders, weld cells, PLC's and Press Controls and automation processes
Develop and document preventative maintenance programs for existing and new welding/ robotic automation equipment as directed.
Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on weld cells, robotics and press controllers as directed.
Review current processes including weld cells and robotics to improve equipment efficiency and up time.
Suggest improvements in current processes, layout and new equipment.
Program welders, robots, plc's and press controls.
Assist with automation development and troubleshooting.
Travel as required to perform the above job functions Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
