Position Summary
The Cost Accountant position requires a multi-skilled person. Responsibilities are to make ledger entries and keep track of cost analysis, performs activities covering materials and production costs, costs of sales, product development, overhead, etc.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Final order costing
Closeouts for machines, service, stock orders
Monitor cost comparisons of outside processes
Create sales pricing
Maintain and update sales pricing
Assist in various accounting processes
Determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods
Preparation and analysis of cost reports and costing audits
Examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures cost data is allocated correctly
Compares actual costs to estimates and analyzes variances.
Analyzes and monitors raw material inventory
Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing budget costs to actual production costs; this includes product margin reporting and analytics.
Maintains the inventory system with integrity and standardization
KNOWLEDGE and Ability:
Knowledge of machine building, fabricating, and machining processes
Associate degree in business or accounting preferred; 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must have full knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures
Must have strong technical skills involving inventory reconciliation, cost analysis and month-end close
Must have solid decision making skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment
Must be able to work in a team environment with varied departments and diverse personalities
Basic computer skills, word processing, and 10-key calculator
Knowledge of MS Office, spreadsheets and accounting software
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures
Knowledge of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
Proficient in data entry
Competent organizing and prioritizing skills to work efficiently
Attention to detail and accuracy, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
Good mathematical background
Good communication skills; ability to listen, communicate (written and verbal), excellent grammar, spelling and proof reading skills and follow-up effectively with all staffing levels and customers
Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic
Ability to demonstrate good common sense and sound judgment
Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction
Ability to meet deadlines
Familiarity with Macola Accounting/Manufacturing software

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
