My name is Domenic and I represent The Fountain Group. We are a national staffing firm and are currently seeking a Product Development Scientist (Food Science/Beverage) position for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Barrington, IL. Details for the positions are as follows:

Job Description:

In a Product Development Scientist role, conduct bench-top, pilot plant and plant development and commercialization of new products and quality/cost improvement of existing products.
Work on assigned R&D projects (innovation, cost reductions, and/or technical issue resolution) either independently or alongside Company Product Developers.
Develop project timelines and deliver on key project milestones; represent R&D at cross-functional team meetings.
Plan, coordinate, and execute product development via bench top and pilot plant work. Includes preparing and processing beverage samples, overseeing shelf life testing, conducting bench top tastings, scheduling and producing products for sensory panels and consumer tests, interpreting data and making recommendations, as well as maintaining detailed records in laboratory notebook.
Enter ingredient specifications and formulas into corporate documentation software.
Resolve technical issues and challenges; proactively trouble-shoot

Required Job Skills:
Requires minimum of B.S. in Food Science or other related sciences.
2-7 years of demonstrated Product Development experience with beverages and/or food; beverage formulation experience preferred.
Knowledge and experience in product formulation and formulation chemistry.
Knowledge of product development protocols, including formulation, stability testing, sensory and consumer testing methodology.
Good interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to work alone and in groups. Self-motivated/self-starter with the ability to handle multiple project assignments in a fast-paced environment is required.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with good time management skills and strong attention to detail.
Good interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written.
Proficient with MS Office.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift 40-50 pounds.

Preferred Skills:
Previous experience with nutritional and formula documentation software.

Total Work
Experience:
2-7 years food or beverage Product Development experience; beverage development experience preferred.

Travel:
Occasional travel to Corporate Office in Chicago.

Physical Requirements:
Willing to occasionally lift heavy items (such as a 50 lb bag).

Duration: 14 months

Targeted Pay Rate: Bid Rate Position

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
