Unix Engineer 3
Our client is currently seeking a Unix Engineer 3.
Responsible for providing hands-on support and maintenance for mission critical, high availability database and application server environment.
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline - preferred.
5
years experience with systems maintenance in a large organization providing 24x7 production support and maintenance of mission critical databases.
Skills and Competencies:
Backup and recovery of Oracle and Sybase databases.
Unix Shell Scripting Skills - Bourne or Korn shell is required.
Strong analytical capabilities and organizational skills.
Must have a strong command of the English language - written and oral.
Ability to quickly learn new systems, and business processes.
Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
Demonstrated troubleshooting experience in fine-tuning hardware, software, application and server performance issues in high-pressure situations.
Proven track record in leading enterprise initiatives and making recommendations.
Major Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
Provides technical hands-on data support, maintenance and oversight.
Ensures data management layer is kept up to date in product lifecycle.
Plans and executes upgrades of system infrastructure as required.
Maintain appropriate fault-tolerant data management posture and formulate recommendations for improvement as needed.
Keeps abreast of new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This is an opening for 2 Senior Level Unix Engineer.
This group is broken up into two teams so the contractors will be supporting either the Bill team or the Operation team.
Looking for a contractor that is able to provide strategic direction, formulate policy, set standards and enforce standards.
Satellite server exp Management type skills Strong enterprise level skills RED HAT AIX disaster recovery Strong RedHat Linux skills, experience with Satellite.
This group will be working with 70 AIX Unix servers, 1100 servers across, 6 data halls within, 3 data centers.
Team is about 16 people with 1/3 off shore.
Top 3 skills:
Strong RedHat exp (5
years)AIX Satellite exp Good Communication skills- both written and verba.
Data Center migration/move exp V2V or P2V -This is not required but would be desirable This manager needs 2 PLATFORM engineers UNIX/Linux engineers- ( We are not looking for messaging/WINTEL engineers)Needs Strong Unix Server engineer exp.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
