CPC Coder (Pediatric)

This position is responsible for ensuring all coding is completed accurately for both inpatient and outpatient charges,
including payer specific CPT, ICD-9 and modifiers, and concurrent chart review to ensure compliance with
documentation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION
High School Graduate or GED
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Certified Professional Coder
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years professional coding and abstracting experience.
Knowledge of all aspects of paper and electronic billing.
Experience with Inpatient billing of professional services
Working knowledge with Medicare, MediCal, Private, PPO and HMO
SPECIAL SKILLS
Detail oriented
Computer skills
CPT and ICD-9 Coding
ICD-10 training preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for daily coding of government and commercial charges.
2. Ensure inpatient and outpatient charge tickets are updated annually.
3. Responsible for concurrent documentation review of inpatient and outpatient services.
4. Participation in routine departmental meetings
5. Participation in routine divisional meetings
6. Accountable for continually implementing and demonstrating patient safety in all assigned duties. Demonstrates active participation in processes that support the JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals. Accountable within appropriate scope of practice to ensure that the safe delivery of healthcare services is maintained on an ongoing basis
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrates work performance that would ensure all charges are accurately entered within expected time frame.
2. Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly, expressing all pertinent information and potential problems or issues that would hinder the ability to successfully perform his or her job, written and verbal, to include details and outcomes.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
