Summary:
The Data Analyst will support the department with the development and compliance for the Bariatric Surgery Program in accordance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The Data Analyst will also support the data reporting needs of the Saint Agnes Maryland Metabolic Institute.
The Data Analyst performs assigned responsibilities with a high degree of independence and initiative to achieve departmental and organization objectives.

Responsibilities:
Provides data analysis to meet goals and objectives associated with department initiatives and database requirements.
Accurate, complete, and timely data entry is essential to ensure continuous quality improvement which will ultimately enhance patient safety and associated excellence in outcomes.
To collect and submit accurate, complete, and timely data to the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform. In collaboration with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Director and the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Coordinator to ensure high-quality data compilation, documentation, data reporting, and data integrity of metabolic and bariatric procedures performed at the SAH submitted electronically to the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform.
Evaluates departments and services in an effort to define best practices and encourage positive and progressive change.
Remains current on healthcare trends and advances, particularly medical terminology, health outcomes metrics and medical coding.
Oversees functioning of assigned projects/project teams and for collaborating with administrative, physician and departmental leadership to access necessary resources and complete assigned in accordance with internal and external standards. Manages resources, process and quality assurance of projects within scope of responsibility.
Develops and updates the ongoing management plan. Monitors and ensures that detailed project plans, reporting mechanisms, issue resolution processes, and communications are timely and meet quality guidelines.

Education &
Experience:
One year data collection, analysis and reporting in a health care setting is required.
Familiar with data analytic functionality of MS Excel is required.
Bachelor's degree in a health-related major area of study from an accredited four year college or university at date of hire required.
Knowledge of Maryland healthcare regulatory, particularly related to quality/safety initiatives is preferred.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission Core Measures the American College of Surgeons and other industry quality and patient safety initiatives and previous experience with Meditech or MIDAS software systems preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 and CPT coding is required.
Must successfully complete the ACS MBSCR Online Training Program.
Must secure timely certification as an MBSCR as required upon satisfactory completion of all components of the MBSCR training program.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
