The Shift Supervisor CPP Production will be primarily responsible for supervising team members and processes in our Cummins Power Products assembly area. The supervisor will be responsible for maximizing profitability, growth and the overall success of the department. The position works closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to achieve daily production targets in up-fitting engines into power units while ensuring that all safety, quality and documentation processes are followed. Focus must be given toward removing obstacles preventing achieving production rate targets and enabling continuous flow of the up fit work. This position may be required to work flexible shifts depending on order demand. This position reports directly to the Production Manager.
Responsibilities:
Supervise team members assigned to assembly, light fabrication, and prototype build processes including hire/train/review; oversee the safe and efficient operations.
Model and promote safe work habits and procedures, and ensure compliance with Cummins standards and applicable government regulations. Administer JSA (Job Safety Assessment) audits on schedule set by the Production Manager.
Establish the weekly and daily production targets with the Production Manager and the Warehouse Supervisor. Communicate the targets to the assembly team and establish the daily game plan to hit the goals. Monitor and control work flow to achieve build rate.
Maintain build sequence/status boards, assembler assignments and visual communication tools. Measure and report on effectiveness of team activities.
Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments. Maintain good relations with peers and all customers internal / external.
Work in conjunction with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure CPP is continually improving in the areas of Safety, Cost, Quality and Schedule Attainment.
Provide material handling requirements to ensure cohesive plan for the right material to arrive at the right place and the right time to meet the production plans.
Provide information to Materials/Schedule by compiling and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
Remove obstacles which impede efficient work, and promote efficiency in work procedures. Identify and alert issues for Production Engineering to resolve.
Capture and analyze standard work toward balancing work by station and as basis for product labor costing. Advance implementation of in station quality checks and other quality systems to assure the highest quality possible for our customers.
Establish and maintain positive, productive working environment for production team members, through fair and consistent administration of personnel policies and procedures. Maintain the assemblers training matrix and training schedules.
Maintain the daily order and cleanliness of the production work areas.
Continually improve efficiencies of plant processes and production management procedures by installing/arranging new methods, layouts, systems, cells, etc. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives with internal teams and our suppliers.
Maintain working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/
Experience:
Associates degree or five years of experience in engine, mechanical or assembly environments, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Prior knowledge of Cummins engines and parts helpful.

years in production supervision or similar role
Experience operating in a Lean environment and processes preferred.
Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and willing to learn appropriate Cummins systems and processes.
