IT Applications Systems Analyst Programmer

Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems; Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written using JCL, VSAM, COBOL, and DB2; Design, code, test, debug, document, and maintain those company programs; Troubleshoot application issues and/or data issues as they arise using Xpeditor, File-Aid, Abend-Aid, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, and Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio; Responsible for production support, including on-call duties in a 24x7 environment and new projects; Participate in requirements definition sessions to gain a general perspective on the business objectives or business problem that is to be addressed by the system; Work with Business Analysts to gain an understanding of functional requirements, and develop implementable technical designs; Research and recommend alternative design solutions where appropriate; Analyze requirements, designing and developing prototypes and working with the users/business analyst to fine-tune the application and make recommendations; Participate in peer code design reviews to verify quality standards and functional and technical requirements are met; Design, code, test, and implement moderately complex programs; Develop appropriate programs and systems documentation according to established IT standards; Create test scenarios and develop test plans for business applications in order to verify that client requirements are incorporated in to the system design; Assist in analyzing testing results throughout the project; Enhance existing systems and participate in structured walkthroughs and technical reviews; Support production systems by helping resolve problems, providing timely follow-up on problem report, optimizing performance and streamlining processes using Easytrieve; Assist in coordinating developments tasks on projects, problem tickets and provide support to other team members; Participate in technical reviews and inspections to verify intent of change is carried out through the entire project; Provide support, escalating response to production problem issues/errors, and perform root cause analysis and application resolution; Provide on-call second-level escalation response for client issues and application problem tickets; Collaborate with work teams, departments, system leadership, staff, other IT groups, and technology vendors in defining needs and facilitating solutions; and Ensure proper documentation and on-time delivery of all technical artifacts and deliverables.

Salary: $74,000 per year
Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree).
Experience: Five (5) years in the position above, as a Profesional 1: Application Delivery, or in a related occupation.
Experience must include use of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, JCL, Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio, VSAM, COBOL, DB2, and Easytrieve.
Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience.
